Lee
Lee Roy Selmon's story combines football scholarships for his family with service to his community. The first time the Selmons were raised by Lucious and Jessie Selmon, who lived on their Eufala farm. He was the youngest of nine children. In second football, he was the third brother who were players for Oklahoma. The three brothers were all All-Americans. A year later, in 1973 Lucious Jr. Dewey and Lee Roy were starters. Lee Roy won the Outland and Lombardi Awards as the nation's most effective lineman. During his three seasons as Oklahoma's first lineman The Sooners finished 31-1-1 and claimed two championships. He was awarded a third award in 1975. In addition, he was referred to as an National Football Foundation Student-Athlete. Selmon obtained his master's degree in educational studies. Lee Roy spent ten hours a week on volunteer work in his college days. He returned to Tampa following college. He played for the Buccaneers for nine seasons and played three times in the all-pro league. His career in business began. He began his career in 1988. began working as an Account Relations Officer at First Florida Bank in Tampa. He was employed by the Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute as well as the Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. In 1982, the Junior Chamber of Commerce recognized Lee Roy as one of the 10 of America's top young men. Lee Roy stood 6-2 in size and weighed in at 256 pounds at the time he played in college. He captained the 1975 team. He joined University of South Florida in 1993, as director of athletics as an associate. In 1993, the College Football Hall of Fame recognized him in 1988. GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame, in 1994. Pro Football Hall of Fame, in 1995. In 1989, the Oklahoma City Chapter of the National Football Foundation in 1989 awarded the Distinguished American Award to his parents Mr. and Mrs.. Lucious Selmon Sr. The presentation was made by Henry Bellmon govenor of Oklahoma.
